A record number of young dog handlers compete for the Junior Handler World Championship at the World Dog Show 2025

An exceptionally large number of young dog handlers from all over the world are currently competing for the Junior Handler world championship title at the Helsinki Exhibition and Convention Centre. In the junior handler competition of the World Dog Show 2025, young people aged 10–18 get to show their skills as dog show ring performers.

Almost 400 young handlers are participating in the competition. Of them, 357 have registered for the competition and 36 have been invited to participate as representatives of their own country. Participants have come to Finland from all over the world, for example from South Korea, Japan and Mexico.

Final on Sunday

Finland is strongly represented in the competition, as the junior handler culture and appreciation of activities are exceptionally strong in Finland. In Finland, for example, there are very professional judges who have focused on junior handler judging, the junior handlers’ rings are given time and space in shows, and coaching and support are invested in. Finland serves as a good example for other countries.

The World Dog Show 2025 Junior Handler competition culminates on Sunday in the final, where invited national representatives and five competitors who have advanced to the final from open competitions will compete for the World Championship.
